"Community Investment Committee”
United Way of Illinois Valley holds itself and its partner agencies accountable for investing your money wisely and to deliver results! We adhere to rigorous service and accountability standards, and we continue to find ways to reduce costs and increase support throughout the community. Every United Way program must demonstrate strong financial management and outstanding service delivery.
The United Way of Illinois Valley’s Community Investment Committee (CIC) is convened every two years. This process includes: Community Assessment, Community Investment, Program Evaluation, and Community Outreach. The members of this ALL VOLUNTEER COMMITTEE are the STEWARDS who interview agency staff members during on-site agency visits, review the criteria of all programs, review the funding requests for all programs, and recommend program funding levels to the UWIV Board of Directors for final decision. If you think this sounds like an arduous task; you are right! But, it is also the number one, absolute, most rewarding, volunteer opportunity that UWIV has to offer.
Volunteers for the CIC usually begin knowing little or nothing about the specific program and agency that they will visit. By the end of the process, these volunteers have not only a sound understanding about the programs provided by our partner agencies, but the proverbial “light bulb goes on” and they emerge from the experience with intense feelings of humility, value and thankfulness for having volunteered their time and talent to the process.
